According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred when a 1997 Toyota 4Runner traveling north left the roadway while approaching a curve. Investigators stated that the teenage driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. Murphy Andes, a passenger in the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
